Training Subject Matter Expert – Operations

Responsibilities
K2 Solutions Inc. is currently seeking Operations Training SMEs to serve as
members of a unique, multi-discipline team providing training assistance to
U.S. forces as well as Interagency and International partners. Training will
focus on providing Operations and Intelligence Integrators with the ability
to fuse operations and intelligence information in an effective, seamless
process in order to enhance their effectiveness against enemy networks that
employ Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The Operations Training SME will assist in internal training of organization
personnel as well as training members of deploying units and selected
Interagency/International partners. Training will focus on the use of a
broad range of tools, methodologies and datasets in order to develop greater
fidelity of enemy networks employing IEDs. The Operations Training SME
should be able to train operations integrators to:
- Prioritize, categorize and scope requests for information and requests for
support.
- Conduct near term analyses of device and network-centric threats.
- Integrate JIEDDO-COIC tools, data, and personnel into Corps, Division, or
Brigade-level Mission Readiness Exercises.
- Advise Commanders on the integration of JIEDDO-COIC C-IED products and

- Advise Commanders in the identification, training and integration of
JIEDDO IED defeat technologies into their mission planning and operations.
- Assist Commanders with the development of a full spectrum strategy to
combat IEDs that is based upon analysis of current enemy intelligence, an
analysis of the enemy’s Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP) and a
thorough understanding of unit operations and capabilities.
The Operations Training SME must have the ability to perform tasks with
Microsoft productivity software and applications.
The Operations Training SME should have the ability to perform tasks with
the following web-based intelligence tools, software, and databases:
Microsoft SharePoint, Google Earth spatial analysis software, SIPR, and
JWICS.
Successful applicants must possess strong oral and writing skills,
experience working with multidiscipline teams, and the ability to develop
and provide advanced instruction to a diverse range of students via a wide

The focus of these fusion efforts is exposure of enemy networks that employ

The Military Operations Integrator will serve as the direct link between
JIEDDO and deployed SOF units on all current and future initiatives.
The Military Operations Integrator serves as the primary advisor to the
deployed SOF commander and staff on all activities with regards to planning,
and synchronization of effort of JIEDDO and JIEDDO COIC support to deployed
SOF elements.
The Operations Integrator applies in-depth understanding of both the
supported unit’s operational requirements as well as JIEDDO capabilities in
order to identify exploitable vulnerabilities of targeted enemy
organizations.
The Military Operations Integrator must apply a thorough understanding of
the Ops/Intel fusion process as well as subject matter expertise on SOF

The Operations Integrator ensures all SOF requests for JIEDDO support are
fully coordinated with other JIEDDO deployed assets and the JIEDDO.
Ensures SOF assets are kept abreast of all current and emerging JIEDDO
processes, methodologies, and Tactics, Techniques & Procedures (TTP) for
attacking networks that utilize IEDs.

Integrator must also possess the ability to effectively communicate both
orally and in writing.

Integrator should also possess an understanding of IEDs as well as the

Joint Expeditionary Team Member

Responsibilities
K2 Solutions, Inc is seeking Senior Operational Specialists to provide
direct support to the Army, Marine and other US Joint Forces. These
specialists serve as members of a multi-discipline team performing tasks
directly related to the Global War on Terrorism, focused on countering
improvised explosive devices.
Interested personnel must possess a TS/SCI Clearance and be capable of
performing missions in a small unit accompanying US and Coalition forces in
various remote locations, including high threat environments worldwide. The
JET Operator is issued full equipment to include weapons, so as to blend
unobtrusively with the assigned unit.
These positions are best suited for broadly-gauged experts who have recent
in-theater experience in all areas and levels of counterinsurgency
operations from team member through SF BN/Group (SOF) or Company through
Division/MEF level (Conventional).
Personnel in these positions perform missions in various remote locations,
including high threat environments such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
Candidates are not required to relocate and can live anywhere in the
continental United States. Deployments are 4 months in-theater, 4 months
CONUS, 4 months in-theater.
Experience and Education:
Recent in-theater experience with a Combat arms unit is required. Multiple
tours at various operational levels that include a mix of direct combat,
operational planning, training development and Ops-Intel fusion is
preferred.
Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years experience in Combat Arms and a
minimum of two (2) years experience deployed to either Iraq in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom or Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring
Freedom. Time deployed to either location as a member of the military (vice
contractor) is preferred.
Successful applicants will have direct counterinsurgency operational

Salary Information: The salary range listed includes locality pay of
14.16%, and reflects the salary range for a full-time position. However,
salaries for part-time positions will be pro-rated based upon the actual

DUTIES:
If you are selected for this position, you will serve as a Transportation Security Inspector (Explosives Detection Canine Handler/ EDCH) working under the direction of the Federal Security Director (FSD) or his/her designee with primary responsibility for conducting security sweeps for the detection or deterrence of explosive threats in various transportation systems. As a TSI (EDCH), along with your canine, you will be responsible for determining compliance of transportation systems with applicable regulations. You will assist in the administration and evaluation of critical and complex compliance and enforcement programs designed to ensure secure transportation modes and protect the nation’s public from terrorism, piracy, or other acts of sabotage to those systems, facilities, and networks associated with them. Your duties will include:
With the canine, conducting random patrols and routine sweeps at various areas within the transportation environment along with the inspection of vehicles, packages, personnel, aircraft, trains, ferries and other as directed.
Responding to threats that affect transportation operations or public safety as necessary.
Screening cargo to ensure explosives are not concealed for transport and conducting inspections of regulated entities to ensure compliance with applicable security regulations.
Gathering information to write reports which detail the results and activities performed, following up on findings and initiating Enforcement Investigative Reports as required.
Identifying and responding to security regulation violations or potential violations. Responding to transportation security incidents and other pertinent incidents as defined by the National Incident Management Systems or as directed by the Federal Security Director.
Performing tests and audits; validating and inspecting security processes, procedures, systems, and equipment in connection with compliance inspections and vulnerability assessments.
Providing input to written analyses of inspections and assessments and determining the adequacy of corrective measures required to improve security posture or to restore compliance.
Conducting investigations related to alleged or suspected transportation security violations. Identifying, collecting, and preserving evidence used to support enforcement actions. Assisting in determining when enforcement action should be initiated and preparing enforcement investigation reports. Entering data pertinent to investigations, inspections, and incidents into the national database Performance and Results Information Systems (PARIS).
Conducting and participating in regular training with assigned working dog to maintain acceptable performance levels and providing necessary health maintenance care, feeding/watering, and grooming of working dogs. You will be responsible for ensuring that assigned canine is correctly certified and accredited and for maintaining appropriate training records, as required.
Serving as a technical expert and key point of contact on transportation security regulations for assigned industry operations and demonstrating substantial knowledge and understanding of a secondary specialty (cargo, aviation, or surface) sufficient to provide specialized support as necessary.
Note: As a TSI (EDCH), you may work with explosives in the training and support of teams. Additionally, you may perform inventory of hazardous materials. In all cases when you are in close proximity to live or otherwise dangerous explosives, you must exercise caution and follow prescribed techniques to ensure utmost safety and protection while handling of such explosives.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To qualify for the SV-I Pay Band (equivalent to GS-13), you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to SV-H Pay Band or GS-11/12 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience includes a substantive background in Federal, state, or local law enforcement which included work as an EDCH in law enforcement and homeland security efforts at local, state, or Federal levels.
